Happy Holidays!

Wow, I haven't updated in so long.  21 credits officially kicked my ass, kind of.  So glad the semester's over, so glad to be on break.

I hate technology, and it hates me.

My crappy Dell lasted a full five days (impressive right?) before it crashed, again, after I reformatted.  For a comp sci minor, I am awfully incompetent.  Windows will not even load anymore, the screen just displays the Dell sign, and stubbornly refuses to load the operating system.  Apparently I possess the rare ability to crash macs as well.  I should just become a computer tester or something seeing as I can pretty much crash any operating system.  Hey, can't be discriminatatory right?

In other (kind of) related news, I got a friend a binary clock, and we were trying to figure out how to read it for the longest time.  And of course, this nerd managed to figure it out in the end.  Ironically, the person I got it for is the person who will (hopefully) uncrash my computer, and I had to explain how to read it to him.  I guess this is why I can crash operating systems but set curves in computer science class.  Makes you wonder what is the point of sending 40+ grand to college every year.

California

I don't understand how people from Stanford can stand it.  The weather there is so beautiful, how can anyone get any work done?  I certainly didn't.  Well, actually, I got Jenny's work done, haha, so I guess I kind of did.

Random highlights of the trip:
- Inebriation in San Franscico
- Bartender's numerous offers
- Jenny being angry
- Yummy food
- Karaoke
- Drama, drama, drama
- Shady grad students
- Writing a pwr proposal... in the bookstore, because the batteries ran out on Jenny's laptop
- Sunny days, cold nights
- Red-eye flight!
- Just good ol' fun.

I love you Jenny Lum!

It is cold and gloomy outside.  I hate the east coast.  It needs to stop being so rainy and crappy.  It is putting me in a bad mood.  Work is also putting me in a bad mood.  I hate getting dressed for work.  Sweatpants should be the universal dress code for every occasion.  I need to stop complaining, haha.

Hurricane Katrina

My Business Law professor dedicated his semester class to the victims of Hurricane Katrina.  Great... way to make me feel terrible if I would ever have to miss his 8:50 class on Friday mornings.  But in all seriousness, what has happened is so sad.  I cannot even bear to watch the News anymore.

Another interesting bit of information that I learned in class today.  Apparently in Scientific American a couple of years ago, there was an article regarding how if they had spent 16 million dollars to strengthen the foundations, this would not have been nearly as devasting.  New Orleans will never be the same again.  And just last night, the Senate "convened" and "uniamimously" passed a bill that transferred 10 billion dollars of funds for relief efforts, all five out of one hundred senators showed up for this Senate meeting.  That's right, five.  You do the math.  Here is a tragic event that affects the entire world (if nothing else, look at oil prices), and all of five senators show up.  Ridiculousness.

We were talking about the devastation that Hurricane Katrina has left behind in class, and I seriously started tearing.  Can you imagine the lives of people who were affected?  How can people live in a big stadium forever?  In Texas nonetheless!  Okay fine, props to Texas for taking people in, seriously.  And the effect that this huge natural catastrophe has on the students.  It is mean to say, and of course it is very sad, but those who have passed away at least do not have anything else to worry about.  Those who have survived must stay strong I guess.  I just simply cannot grasp how their views on life have changed over the past week.  Can you imagine being the preside of Loyola and immediately after welcoming your incoming freshmen, you must tell the parents and the students to go home?  I truly truly truly admire those who have been affected.

Hopefully everything will turn out well.
